I have been interested in modern quilts for several years, so in late 2018 I decided to learn how to create a quilt of my own.
The design that I selected is from Alison Glass called Tres, which I’ve renamed to its French equivalent. This is, indeed, a “fast and easy quilt” which still poses some challenges for newcomers like myself. Ultimately, I was very satisfied with the final outcome and have plans (and fabric) to begin two new quilting projects in 2019.
Quilt size: 54x60”
Duration: 8-9 working sessions (~10-15 hours)
Materials used: Bernina 480, Alison Glass design, Aurifil threads, Fiskar cutting tools

I enrolled in another illustration course at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond which focuses on drawing using oil pastels. I am taking this course to help bridge the gap between acrylic and oil, and open up new opportunities in plein air painting.
The visuals shown here were from a drawing workshop organized by the instructor, Sarah Masters, and took place at Manakintowne Specialty Growers in Powhatan, Virginia.
Canvas size: 12x16”
